I’d like to think of myself as a party planner prodigy. I treated the bread plate as my own personal biscuit buffet. As a child, I got through the five-bite-rule (aka forced snacks) as best I could and stomach-ed whatever awful food was plated before me because I knew there was a biscuit waiting on the bread plate with a huge pat of butter and giant dollop of jelly. When I was younger, I was the world’s pickiest eater. That leads me to my second reasoning for a biscuit ending being the best. I can hear my mother now: “don’t let me forget about the biscuits in the oven.” Oh, the anticipation of the biscuit arrival. After laboring over the stove and oven to cook multiple dishes, the oven finally has space available when dishes are on the buffet or table thus, the biscuits get cooked last. There are two reasons for this delicious ending. I know many restaurants serve biscuits as appetizers and it’s polite to pass the biscuit bowl at the start of the meal, but I always finish my meal with a biscuit. In my opinion, if you don’t finish the meal with a biscuit, you just ate a really big snack and that’s unacceptable. It’s a joy to share my personal biscuit story with you today, and I hope it inspires you to invite some friends over and “break biscuits” together. Hey y’all!
